Position Vacancy

The Town of Alton is seeking resumes for the part-time position of Assessing Secretary.

The Assessing Department is located in the Town Hall at 1 Monument Square. The position is part-time with a work schedule of Monday – Wednesday, eight hours per day. The Secretary reports to the Assessor.

Responsibilities include assisting the public on the telephone and at the counter with inquiries and problem solving. General clerical functions that require mature judgement and confidentiality. Telephone coverage, filing and records management, correspondence, computer input, etc. Maintain an effective working relationship with town officials, employees, other municipalities and the general public. Willingness to work evenings as necessary and cover other days if needed.

Requirements include computer hardware and software skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and Assessing software preferable. Vision Cama or Avitar Cama knowledge or experience. Office experience. Prior Assessing experience a plus. Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform all functions of the position.
