Town of Alton - SECRETARY. Are you passionate about making a difference in your community and working in a friendly environment? The Town of Alton is seeking to hire a motivated and dedicated individual for the position of Secretary at the Town Hall in the Administration Department/Board of Selectmen’s Office.

The chosen applicant must demonstrate proficiency and confidentiality while assisting the Town Administrator, Board of Selectmen, Executive Secretary and various Boards and Committees. Applicant must be able to demonstrate computer software skills, office equipment, and verbal communications with the public and staff. A few of the duties include welfare management as the Deputy Welfare Officer, typing minutes, research projects, meeting postings, reports and organizing Town bids.

This position is the Secretary/ Deputy Welfare Officer and as such must be efficient and trustworthy with confidential or sensitive matters.

Qualities needed include being a team player, a positive attitude, a good work ethic, multi-task capabilities, organization, and working well with others.

This position schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 8:00am – 4:30pm, 32 hours per week with the possibility of becoming full time in the future. The position comes with a partial benefits package, which includes pro-rated benefits such as medical insurance, dental insurance, vacation time, holiday pay, sick leave, etc.
