2024 ELECTION DATES

November 13, 2023 First day to accept petitions to amend zoning ordinance, historic district ordinance or building code for consideration at March 2024 town meeting.

December 13, 2023 Last day to accept petitions to amend zoning ordinance, historic district ordinance or building code for consideration at the March 12, 2024 town meeting.

January 9, 2024 Last day for voters to petition selectmen to include an article in the town meeting warrant, provided that if a petitioned article proposes a bond governed by RSA 33:8-a, the deadline is the preceding Friday, January 5.

January 17, 2024 Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session from 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm to accept voter registrations. Alton Town Hall, Depot Street Entrance. LAST day to register to vote for the Presidential Primary until election day. No additions or corrections shall be made to the checklist after this session until election day.

January 23, 2024 Presidential Primary Election Day – Prospect Mountain High School, Gymnasium 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.)

January 23, 2024 Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session from 7 to 7:30 p.m. to accept voter registrations – Prospect Mountain High School, Gymnasium

January 24, 2024 – February 2, 2024 - Filing period for town and school offices (Feb. 2, 2024 Town Clerk’s Office from 3 – 5 p.m.)

February 3, 2024 School Deliberative Session @ 1:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the Prospect Mountain High School (snow date Feb. 5 @ 7:00 p.m.)

February 6, 2024 Town Deliberative Session @ 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the Prospect Mountain High School (snow date Feb. 7 @ 6:00 p.m.).

February 29, 2024 Last day for Town Clerk to accept voter registrations for Town Election.

March 2, 2024 - Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. to accept voter registrations – first floor of town hall – Willam Heidke Room. No additions or corrections shall be made to the checklist after this session until election day.

March 11, 2024 - Last day for Town Clerk to accept absentee ballots filed in person-open until 5:30 p.m.

March 12, 2024 - Town Election Day at Prospect Mountain High School, Gymnasium, 242 Suncook Valley Road – voters may register at the polls (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.)

March 15, 2024 - Last day for any person for whom a vote was cast to apply to Town Clerk for a recount. Town Clerk’s Office will be open from 3 to 5 p.m.

March 19, 2024 - Last day for 10 voters of a town to petition clerk to recount ballots on any question printed on the official ballot until 5:00 p.m.

June 4, 2024 - Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session from 7 to 7:30 p.m. – LAST DAY to change party affiliation before primary in September –– Town Hall, 1 Monument Square, Supervisors of the Checklist Office, Depot Street (side entrance).

June 5 - June 14, 2024 - Filing period for all offices for state primary election (June 14 open 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m).

September 4, 2024 – Last Day for town clerk/supervisor of the checklist to accept voter registration applications for the State Primary Election. No additions or corrections shall be made to the checklist after this session.

September 9, 2024 - Last day for town clerk to accept absentee ballots filed in person-until close of business at 5:30 p.m.

September 10, 2024 - State Primary Election Day at Prospect Mountain High School, 242 Suncook Valley Road – voters may register at the polls (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.)

October 30, 2024 – Last Day for town clerk/supervisors to accept voter registration applications. No additions or corrections shall be made to the checklist after this session.

November 4, 2024 - Last day for town clerk to accept absentee ballots filed in person-until close of business at 5:30 p.m.

November 5, 2024 - General Election Day at Prospect Mountain High School, 242 Suncook Valley Road – voters may register at the polls (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.)
