Fulltime FF/EMT A-EMT/Paramedic Preferred Salary DOQ the Alton Fire Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of a Full-time Firefighter/EMT, (Advance or Paramedic preferred). The Town of Alton operates a progressive combination department, responding on nearly 1,200 calls annually with full time and per-diem staffing. Each of the 4 shifts include a company officer and 2 FF/EMT’s working a 1-1-1-5 shift schedule. The community covers 64 sq. miles of land area and 19 sq. miles of inland water area on 7 different lakes and ponds containing 11 inhabited islands and hundreds of island homes. The town is diverse, from a small commercial district with pressurized hydrants, to numerous rural housing developments, mountains, recreational, and OHRV trails. Alton has a year-round population of approximately 6,000 which increases significantly during the winter and summer seasons. The town has a well-established CIP with replacement schedules for all apparatus and equipment to include an aerial ladder, 3 pumpers, a tanker, a heavy rescue, a forestry, a 27’ fire boat, ambulances, an airboat, an inflatable boat, and various support vehicles.
