The Board of Selectmen are seeking letters of interest from people wishing to be appointed to fill two (2) “Alternate” positions on the Parks & Recreation Commission. The Parks and Recreation Commission shall consist of five (5) members and three (3) alternate members, all of whom shall be residents of Alton and who shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The Parks & Recreation Commission follows all applicable state laws and follows RSA 35-B with regards to specific duties. Interested parties should have an enthusiasm in Parks and Recreation in addition to recreational programs for all age groups, an interest in parks and recreational grounds/areas. The Commission shall report to the Board of Selectmen as a whole, relative to any studies, with its recommendations, or as requested by the Board of Selectmen; in order to provide the best parks and recreational programs and projects to the residents of Alton. All Alternate members shall serve as a voting member when filling in for the absence or vacancy of one of the full positions. When doing so, the Alternate shall have the same rights, duties and responsibilities as the full member position. The Commission shall report to the Board of Selectmen as a whole, relative to any studies, with its recommendations, or as requested by the Board of Selectmen.
Interested parties are asked to submit a letter of interest and Application of Appointment form, which can be found on the website (www.alton.nh.gov), to the Board of Selectmen through one of the following methods: via email to the Deputy Welfare Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org, or hand deliver to the Deputy Welfare Officer between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, at the Town Hall (1 Monument Square) or via mail to the Deputy Welfare Officer, Town of Alton, PO Box 659, Alton, NH 03809.
